He married Henrietta Johnston as per James Johnston's will and other records. He is listed as a Johnson, but it is signed James Johnston. he died in 1790 in Bladensburg.Will concerded the jacob Wirt Inn, or as we know in the Geroge Washington Inn in Bladenburg. Henrietta is the sister to William Wirt, US attorney General for Presidents Madison and Monroe. This information came from a Court case concerning Henrietta's daughter, Nancy Ann Johnston and a slave given to Henrietta by William Wirt. The court case revolves around Charles and Joseph Smallwood of Howard county who married the grand daughters of Henrietta (Maryland Archives) and Levy Chaney and the slave Polly Mars.(tis a tangled web we weave) Also to my knowledge Hendley and Henrietta did not have any children.
